My students have struggled to connect with our reading curriculum because it assumes background knowledge they are often missing. The pandemic took a year-and-a-half of normal school from many of them. I want to provide high-quality instruction with grade-level materials that will engage and help fill in the necessary background information on topics such as The American Revolution and Westward Expansion. The novel sets I have requested will give context to these topics and aid understanding of the curriculum's nonfiction texts. My students love reading novels and will be so excited to have brand new novels to use in class.
