My middle school students are creative, ambitious, and deeply resilient. They are growing up in a beautiful, diverse community. As part of a self-contained classroom in a Title I school, my students navigate unique learning challenges alongside systemic resource gaps. Middle school is already a major transition, and it requires a space where students feel safe to take academic risks. Because we spend the entire day together, we are working hard to build an equitable space tailored to their diverse sensory, emotional, and academic needs. Unfortunately, many of our families cannot afford basic supplies, let alone the specialized tools required for a self-contained environment. By investing in our classroom, you are providing these amazing students with the tangible tools and encouragement they deserve to prove that their zip code does not define their future.
