This project will assist my students in filling the creative and collaborative gap that was lost due to distance learning last year. My students need hands-on and interactive resources that allow them to exercise their creativity and collaborate with each other on different activities and projects in Social Studies throughout the year. The goal is to get them off their computer screens and working together which is an essential skill in life and will help with their social and emotional well-being with communicating with others in the classroom. I am confident that with these resources that my students will be able to make growth by May of 2021. One lesson I do with both of my World History and U.S. History classes is called a POP Project. In World, the students will use the paper, colored pencils, etc to write about a famous person during the Renaissance time period. They describe who the person is, what they did, and why are they so famous. Then they must draw a picture of the person doing the thing they are famous for (artists, writers, philosophers). I do something similar in U.S. History, where my students write about a Civil Rights person/leader and draw an image of them. My students will also use the paper, colored pencils, construction paper, etc. on a variety of other activities during the year. I am also including supplies that will keep our Social Studies classroom nice and organized and clean for instruction. SS.6-8.WGGS.14. SS.6-8.WGGS.15 SS.6-8.WGGS.21 SS.6-8.WGGS.25. SS.6-8.EUSH.13.
