I'm grateful that my students are back to school and most want to get an education but there's still a struggle with trying to motive some of the students in special education. My project is to not have a boring ELA/Reading room. Yes we read and write but we also need time to use what we have written into the real world by solving problems and using manipulatives to do that. Many of my students are more hands on than ones that are going to be behind a desk typing. When they work with a manipulative, they are distracted that they are actually doing work. When they write about something they've built, they are doing their writing work but it's more exciting to them because they have made something real.
