Inside Out and Back Again will be used as a partner text with Out of the Dust when we cover RL.7.2, RL.7.3 and RL.7.5. It will be a great addition to the unit. More individual items, like highlighters and erasers, will keep students safe so they do not have to share materials while we do our work. Finally, the lamps and frames will be used to make the environment more comfortable and welcoming. Inside the frames will be posters highlighting famous artists from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities. The goal is to have all students see a person that looks like them on the walls. The goal is also to begin to provide flexible options in the space. The stand up desk and white board materials (I already have a set of whiteboards) will allow for students to move away from their traditional desk and find other alternatives for preferred seating.
