My students love to read, but often struggle to find books that interest them. After over a year of online learning, many students lost the love for reading actual books because they didn't have access to them. Bringing this opportunity to them will help bring the joy of reading a book back into their lives. In a world where YouTube and other virtual platforms bring them immediate entertainment, getting engaging books into their hands is paramount at such a young age to helping them fall in love with reading. My project will give each student a book to own and will provide additional, engaging titles to add to my classroom library. Giving them a copy of a book that they can own will help to encourage them to start building up their own library of favorite books! Helping students begin to learn that reading is fun is perfect way to build better readers. I decided to build off one of the classes favorite books, The Witches by Roald Dahl, and give them other books to read by that beloved author. Connecting to what they have already read will increase the engagement for the students.
