Flexible seating and hands-on manipulative will allow students more autonomy in their learning. These resources will be used primarily during independent work and help keep students engaged and on-task. Flexible seating and hands-on activities can also be used in various other ways, such as social-emotional, classroom management, and learner responsibility. The products and materials I have chosen will help students stay on track with their learning. Students will be allowed to use these products both independently, as centers, and working with me. Flexible seating will allow for movement, choice, and comfort. While working on their writing or on their computers (CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.1.6), flexible seating can help students work collaboratively. Students can complete their work in a fun, active environment. Additionally, the use of manipulatives will increase understanding and learning, whether it be using them to solve math equations or practicing letter names and sounds (CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.OA.A.2, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.1.2).
