Students need to be able to read and comprehend at their grade level. Making reading an enjoyable and comfortable activity will keep them engaged. Our current classroom has only hard chairs and a big blanket for students to use when reading independently or with a partner. The floor is not a good choice for many as it may be unsanitary. I want reading to be the thing they really WANT to do every day. They should be doing it in clean and comfortable chairs. They also can use whiteboards (which we currently don't have at all.)
