My hope is to build a classroom library to provide a space where students love to explore and get lost in reading. These books will provide students with ample opportunities to engage with texts. We are aiming to provide a range from various levels, topics, and genres, in the hopes of captivating all readers. Our classroom read aloud texts serve as valuable teaching moments, along with beautiful moral lessons of friendship, perseverance, and self esteem builders. With these new books, my students will be able to read texts they find interesting, at their appropriate grade level. This will help to increase their interest and motivation to read, helping the students to grow as readers and people. These kiddos have already shown an astonishing passion for reading and this project will only help to dive them deeper into their literacy development. With the challenges of COVID it is clear that students are all on a wider range of development, now more than ever. With this, it is crucial that each child has the opportunity to engage with a text that is appropriate for their ability, giving them room to grow, while also building their skills and confidence in our literate world.
