We have lots of tables, desks, and chairs but some things need to happen on the floor with plenty of room to share and maneuver. Extensive studies show children learn deeply from exploratory play and another designated space in my room would encourage such experiences but sturdy, stain resistant rugs can be expensive. This rug also allows for students to stay within a zoned square if needed for social distancing or personal space. This rug will be used for an additional play area for building blocks, puzzles, and Legos as well a space to hold group learning activities.
