As a trauma sensitive school, we recognize that many students need a space in the classroom where they can go to help themselves calm down and get back to learning. These calming corners and tools will help our students better manage the stressors of daily life in order to learn best at school. Our students are developing skills for emotional regulation, increased attention, motivation and focus, and overall success when they utilize these helpful tools like comfortable seating, deep breathing, sensory items to calm, positive affirmations, and fidgets. Not every tool works for every student, so having choices and figuring out what helps is part of the journey.

About my class
