Regulated kids can learn. I am creating a safe space which is trauma informed where students can come visit before (or when) they are overwhelmed/meltdown or shut down. Together the student and I will create their own personalized calming kit. Allowing my students to create their own self-regulation kit provides them with autonomy and choice as well as tangible tools to help them feel safe and grounded. These kits empower students with strategies that help them build regulation skills and develop emotional intelligence so they can be confident and engaged learners in the classroom and beyond.
