While several aspects of learning have shifted to software/online, (hence the chargers to make sure kids can keep their devices powered up), it's surprising how many students appreciate doing work on actual paper. This is why we have added ink to our list. Working through ideas with pen and paper is perhaps old-fashioned, but it's a definite skill that should be preserved. Students also need visual reminders of the skills they are learning so that it reinforces what they know. The range of anchor charts requested will be used to create a space that is appealing and educational. As we develop new ideas we'd like to keep, we will be able to design and laminate pages to post throughout the room. This will go a long way toward setting these kids up for success. Items such as borders will make sure the monthly bulletin boards are eye-catching, shelf clips will allow me to put up shelves to expand our library, and the cables will allow us to use the smart board as a touchscreen making it more interactive. The one book I included in this initial request is "The Joyful Teacher" because I have been thinking a lot about the kind of teacher I want to be and the best way to inspire students to do well. Lastly, we are in need of disinfectant wipes. Between each group of students, we wipe down the desks to maintain protocols that protect against COVID-19. While masks are provided at the school, wipes are needed to clean surfaces throughout the day.
