These dice will help with quick fact fluency in our room, but while maintaining distance guidelines. I have an extremely energetic group of diverse students who have already displayed an eagerness to learn and a passion for math in third grade! I see their eyes fill with wonder as they are once again given collaborative opportunities to problem solve and engage in meaningful discourse in a classroom atmosphere. Returning to a traditionally structured school day/week routine, it's apparent that we need to gravitate towards more tactile and kinesthetic approaches to learning math versus an online approach which they have been involved with over the last year and a half. The successful and meaningful transition from concrete to abstract, (Teaching for Transfer of Learning) which includes the "doing" stage, requires the physical manipulation of objects in order to solve math problems. This process requires both an abundance and variety of items which both engage and excite the students while simultaneously teaching them crucial fundamental math skills.
