As a classroom teacher for over 15 years, I have accumulated a lot of great books for my classroom library. But many of these books do not have characters who look like my students. They don't all tell stories that my students can connect to. I want my students to look at our classroom library and say, "Hey, they look like me!" I want them to read and hear stories they can connect to and that help them feel seen and honored. I want these books to help teach my students about diversity, belonging, community and empathy. These kids are already so amazing! Please help me share wonderful and inspiring stories with them!
