We will use the mirrors to watch the position of our mouths as we make letter sounds. When students can see and feel what their mouths are doing when making speech sounds they can more easily replicate those sounds when needed. We will use the highlighters to identify words containing specific letter/sound patterns in connected text. This will provide practice and build automaticity when reading. Finally, we will use the magnetic whiteboards to teach letter/sound combinations to help build a solid foundation of reading. By using these strategies, we can help our students increase their automaticity in decoding words, and work toward becoming fluent readers. Our students will benefit from your donation to this project.
