I want to give my students the opportunity to read books with characters that look just like them and characters who have similar experiences that some of my students have. The year 2020 was hard and confusing for the youngest members of society--and it is my job to give them a safe place where they feel seen and heard. By providing them with colorful literature where they can SEE themselves and relate to to the characters that they read about is extremely important to me. My goal is to build an inclusive library that shows all students that even when the world outside is crazy, they have a place where they belong.
