An IPAD in my therapy classroom would benefit my students in a variety of ways. Not only can it be used for increasing AAC availability, it can also serve in a variety of ways to increase language skill, articulation skills, and social awareness through a variety of educational apps. Technology is changing everyday, and students need to be able to access a variety of ways to keep up with their educational needs. Especially students that have communication deficits. This device would help me tremendously with providing students another element of learning and another tool to help increase their communication skills. I hope to provide more of a variety of learning and activities for my students and their specific needs. These activities could also be shared with parents to utilized in their classrooms and at home. Did you know that most AAC (Alternate Augmentative Communication) devices can be used through apps on IPADs? Most AAC devices can cost anywhere from $1000 to $5000 dollars. The cost of the IPAD is considerably less than a specific AAC device and can also be used for other types of learning.
