Being in a special education classroom, some of the requested resources will provide the stimulation my students need to stay focused. Many of my students are described as easily distracted. However, when they have sensory stimulation, this can help them self-regulate and thus increase their independence. The other resources selected will enable me to give them literature-based lessons and adapt them into projects. Through projects, students can show off their unique talents. Some don't believe they have any talents and only see their weaknesses. I desire to change that by exposing the student to relevant characters and to be exposed to new ideas. From that, I envision offering my students ways to interact with the topic, such as making a poster, taking pictures, recording their responses, sharing their ideas with a peer. Creating a book online. Making a meal. All these are ways to assess the student learning and point out how they accessed the material. I hope to help my students learn independence and effective study skills through the projects these materials will help me create.
