As a first year teacher, I have had the opportunity to work with children at a high needs and low-income school. I desire to make my second grade classroom a warm, safe, and welcoming environment where they can become strong, capable individuals with a passion for learning. With the use of a classroom rug, soft lighting with floor lamps, individual white boards, and a high-quality pencil sharpener, it is my hope to provide the children in my second grade classroom with a space where they can be engaged in their learning, build community, and feel safe in my classroom. As a former low-income child myself, I desire to provide the children in my classroom with the supports and materials necessary to provide them with an outstanding education. The white boards listed are wonderful tools for highly engaged learning in a variety of subject areas, and they provide young children with an opportunity to express their individuality and share their ideas.
