Every group has its place that becomes its headquarters. Whether it is a group of animals at the watering hole, or teenagers at the local mall, a place to come together is essential! For a class of students and a teacher, we too need a place to meet as a group and come together as one. In our classroom, the rug is our headquarters; the place where we gather and come together as a community. I am asking for this rug because I believe the carpet is the heart of the classroom. It is where we sit together as a group to share our feelings, read stories and share smiles, as well as some giggles. It is a place where we share our thinking and expand our ideas about the world. It is the place where we set the tone for not only the day but the entire school year. Help me bring to my students the place where our classroom family, our community, will grow together and instill our lifelong love for learning!
