My special education students have very individualized learning abilities and styles. Accommodating each child is often challenging. Their needs are special and their ability to focus is often difficult. Specialized equipment often makes it possible for them to learn and stay focused on the task that they would otherwise be unable to complete. Many of my students just need that little extra boost to be successful. A weighted lap pillow or shoulder weight to be able to sit and finish an assignment, a table to sit at where they are face to face with the teacher in sight, and available for the extra help that is needed. Being able to provide small group instruction to my students is essential in helping them recover from any learning loss due to the school closure of last year. These things mean so much in their academic progress.
