Gathering on the carpet is an integral part of primary grades. I am desperately in need of a new, functional easel. My current easel is well-loved and was passed down to me, but has been damaged over the years and can barely be written on and erased with ease. I spend a lot of my day on the carpet while facilitating a lesson from an easel. Whether it's reading the morning message and having students circle sight words, reading a big book that rests upon an easel, doing a guided writing lesson or having students show me how they solved a math problem. And that's just to start! An easel is such an important part of a community driven classroom and having an easel that functions as a storage area is something I've been yearning for for years!
