These books that I am requesting for my classroom are a part of my mission to let students enjoy learning again. I became a teacher because of my own teachers who made class fun for me, and I strive to do the same for my kids. I want to build a diverse library of different genres, plot lines, and characters so that every single one of my students can find something they love on my bookshelf. CS Lewis once wrote "we read to know that we are not alone." I want to let my students feel seen, and remind them that each one of them are a part of a larger community who is there to support them. I want them to be able to see themselves as the main characters of their story, or open the windows to a glimpse of someone else's completely different experiences.
