Also, they love seeing their finished projects on display in the new glass cases. So many students have since come to the library to ask how to borrow materials. We ran our Chess Invitational Tournament this semester and it was such an enjoyable experience. Many students started out as novices and, over the course of a month, learned how to do advanced moves. Additionally, they have used library books to check the rules or techniques. I am especially grateful for the opportunity to maintain routines and traditions here at Drew MS: our library and media materials make us stand out, fostering a welcoming and safe third space.\r\n\r\nThis is only the beginning, the library is set to start Spring semester with more manga, more chess boards, Lego sets, and more. The group was a great success and the boys really enjoyed it! The boys were able to learn how to tie a tie and keep it for themselves. They all received a journal and were able to learn about the importance of navigating their feelings in a healthy way. Students received a wallet and discussed value/what we give out to others.
