As a first-year school counselor, it is important that I create a safe and welcoming space for all students. Having bean bag chairs will help my office feel different than the classroom and having a robust tool kit in my office, such as the kinetic sand, the conversation starters, and the fidget toys will help my students connect with me about their feelings and develop the coping strategies needed to be a healthy and happy learner. Having diverse books is important so that I can visit the classrooms and share in the love of reading while teaching lessons on belonging and community.

About my class
