A classroom rug will be beneficial to the students during calendar time when we learn through collaboration as a group. It will also give the students a soft place to read during read to self time. Reading is an important part of first grade and it is something I will encourage daily in my classroom. A rug will allow my students to relax and enjoy their books while learning. Sitting on the rug during calendar time will facilitate a classroom community. A safe and comfortable learning environment is crucial for learning.
