Learning and body movement are connected. Standing while you work improves concentration by increasing blood flow to the brain. Many students who stand state that their thinking is clearer, and they have an increased ability to pay attention and focus. I think the key here is to be mindful and make standing up a habit. I would like to provide a standing work station for my students to use during math work time. This will be an area where students working in a group will be able to collaborate and work on math lessons in a more productive way. My intention is to provide students with the flexibility of choice when working with their peers.
