In my view, the most important objective for teaching science is cultivating minds that can solve problems and think critically. These skills reflect what is truly valuable about a scientific mind. In my classroom, I use a phenomena-based approach to all my units and leverage inquiry to encourage students to use scientific ideas, experimentation, and reasoning with evidence to achieve learning goals and building understanding. Rather than positioning myself as the deliverer of knowledge, I aim to position students as the discoverers of knowledge so that they truly develop a love of science and confidence in themselves to find answers to their questions.
