Students are creating hanging macramé projects in jewelry class using macrame fibers, hand made clay beads, glaze, and wooden dowels. This lesson emphasizes how to create different design elements through knotting techniques. Students will look at macramé and fiber art from around the world and create their own, utilizing their own handmade ceramic beads fired in our kiln with the purchase of our bead trees. Students will design these beads and their macramé project, fire and glaze their beads in the kiln, to create this handmade design. During covid, students still gain exposure to jewelry while maintaining healthy social distancing.
