I am currently a reading coach at an inner-city school. Many of the students come from low-income homes. Therefore, it is challenging for students to receive the school supplies they need to be successful in their academics. Many of our kindergarten and first grade students need primary pencils and journals to guide them in their writing process. There is a total of 100 kindergarten and first grade students at our school. A large amount of these students have not been to school due to COVID. As a result, they are having a difficult time using the standard pencils to form letters, numbers, and shapes. The primary pencils are larger and easier for them to hold while writing. The primary journals provide the lines in color so students can form their letters properly. Receiving these supplies will enhance students' ability and experience in being prepared to excel in their academics.
