As a School Social Worker in a low income middle school, I support students with getting their basic needs met, including food and clothing. Many of our families do not have the means to provide food and clothing themselves so students rely heavily on the school for these resources. When students have clean clothing that fits, it will allow them to feel like they fit in and will boost their confidence. I often come across students who do not have the resources to wash their clothes at home, which means they end up wearing dirty clothes to school. Additionally, families do not have the means to buy new clothing as students grow so their clothes often do not fit them. I would love to add clothes to our clothing closet to help students obtain clean, fitted clothing.
