Art is primarily a visual media, that is best learned through seeing then doing. I do, we do, you do. A simple, yet effective teaching strategy. My class however is missing an essential resource making that first step a bit easier to accomplish. A document camera in an art class, makes sense right? Unfortunately, this is not the case for my classroom (currently). A good document camera is a necessary piece of technology because of all the many uses it can have in the art class. For example, this document camera will let me demonstrate the appropriate use of new art materials, artistic techniques, reading/showing pages of art history books, or simply writing out notes/objectives for all to see. This document camera will also cut down on the time currently required to demonstrate to all students in small groups. Less time demonstrating = more time for students to develop their craft and more time for me to assist them 1 on 1.
