Currently, our school is occurring 100% remotely due to COVID-19 levels in our area. Therefore, all speech therapy will be taking place by video-conference. The majority of my students are not fortunate enough to have dedicated, quiet, or private spaces to do their remote learning or speech therapy in their homes. There may be multiple siblings, cousins, friends, or other family members living or working in the same room, which is often distracting and counterproductive to students' focus. I hope to provide each of my students with a basic audio headset with a microphone for them to use in speech therapy and in all remote classroom instruction. Audio headsets with microphones with help my students to be better able to hear, --and be heard--when communicating with me, their teachers, and their peers. For students who already face communication challenges in the best of learning environments, this will significantly improve their opportunities for learning under the current circumstances.
