My students have the option of attending school 100% remote or through a blended learning model. Either way, the majority of their learning will be happening at home. Giving students their own set of blocks will allow learning to extend past the classroom, and help build that home/school connection. Play is the cornerstone of our youngest learners' education. The block center is not only a classroom favorite, but it also provides our students the opportunity to use their imagination, practice foundational math skills, problem solve, and work collaboratively. I love seeing what my students come up with in the block center! Can you build it? Yes, we can! By giving students a set of blocks to have at home, we are also encouraging families to get involved in the child's learning. Students develop language skills as adults ask them questions and they discuss what they are building. Playing together also helps strengthen adult/child bonds, which are so important not only at this age, but also during these challenging times.
