These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. The students in my classroom are lacking age appropriate and leveled books to practice reading at home. I strongly believe great readers are created in the laps of their parents and that is still true in first grade when they can read together at home. Due to the current guidelines for health and safety, students are unable to take home books from the school library. I want to be able to give them at least one new book each nine week period to keep at home and also use at school. These books will become such an important part of my students reading journey. The whiteboards will be used to extend the learning from their books by giving them a place to draw what they have read, find sight words, decode words, and use it for a story map. Thank you for your consideration in helping my students in my classroom!
