When students can see themselves in the books they read, it makes reading all the more interesting. Also, some students live in areas or have situations where books are not accessible to them. So, I want to create an environment where students will be able to access books that they will love to read because either, the pictures look like them, the content is funny and engaging, and/or they can identify with the characters in the story. Therefore, if they don't have the money to purchase books or the support to take them to a library, they can still experience and enjoy reading in the classroom. They will also be able to take books home to practice reading. Just because they don't have doesn't mean they shouldn't have! Just like books, school supplies are essential for every child's educational growth. And I want to create an environment were students don't have to feel sad or ashamed because they don't have supplies. A worry free environment when it comes to being able to access the things they need to thrive.
