I have used a document camera for many years to project work I have done on a problem or display pictures and graphs. A portable document camera will allow my students to share their work with the class. This provides an opportunity for students to discuss solutions without having to pass Expo markers from student to student. A great amount of learning occurs when students have the opportunity to discuss their thinking. The document camera provides a way students can share their work and then hold a class discussion on correct solutions and possible other ways to solve that problem.
