I am so grateful to have these in advance so I can work on creating materials over the summer. Preparing in advance really helps take the load off during the school year. I have already used some of them here at the end of the school year.\r\n\r\nMy students benefit from group and hands on activities in geometry the most. The beginning of the year is very difficult for students as they learn new terminology, notation, and forms of problems. For many students Geometry is overwhelming at first so having hands on opportunities to learn, explore, and review helps to make the material easier to grasp. Colored paper is a small thing but it brightens the day of my students. They look forward to what colors I will use next and even request certain colors. It's become a fun tradition in my classroom. If this small thing helps engage students and prepare them to focus on the important part of learning then I am all for it. Math is not a favorite of many students so it is fun to brighten their day a little with color.\r\n\r\nI also use colored paper for tests. I find on purple or darker colored paper it becomes harder for students to cheat of their neighbors papers. They think I am using color for \"fun\" but it actually serves a significant purpose in these times. Having a clean environment is very important to me and to creating a welcoming environment for my students. Even our custodian has used this vacuum on days when they are short handed. Having a clean environment fulfills a basic need, and in some cases isn't something students are used to at home. It made me cry knowing that there are still decent people in the world who care. \r\n\r\nThe students are beginning to utilize some of the materials from the project. It has been a slow process due to limitations and changes in the room. Some of the materials will be for Spring, whereas other materials are embedded as we go along. \r\n\r\nWhen the students saw what we had received, they were thrilled. One student got to work straight away, building the Lego Astronaut. It was geared toward him and his engineering skills. This project helps not only my classroom but our whole math department. So my thank you is from all of our teachers! The flashcards will be used for \"elementary math games\". The kids really enjoy testing their speed on basic math facts. They asked if we could have a basic math game in advisory! The rulers will be used by our Algebra II students for graphing. Large rulers often break in backpacks and aren't needed for what we do so these will last much longer! The buzzers will be used by all of us for math games and the paper will be used in geometry to make some of our notes/activites more colorful and eye catching rather than just regular white paper.\r\n\r\nHaving these resources allows us to meet the needs of our students and be creative. It also saves us time not having to find ways to improvise with what we have. It levels the playing field and lets us focus on the math.\r\n\r\nMy students historically do very well in dual credit calculus. Those who take the AP test also do well. Most of my students could not afford this technology if it was not provided. Many also use this calculator in their physics and chemistry classes as well as on the SAT. The tablet presenter you have helped me purchase will be used daily in my classroom. It is nice to have a piece of equipment that is not held together by duct tape! \r\n\r\nI use this device to help present in my classroom. I use it regularly to go over notes with my students. It allows me to project onto the screen while still facing the kids. I also use it to hold my iPad so I can annotate, and put objects under the screen so we can all discuss them together. \r\n\r\nMy old device was so broken I had to put papers and objects under the projector at an angle so that they would appear straight on the screen.
