It made me cry knowing that there are still decent people in the world who care. \r\n\r\nThe students are beginning to utilize some of the materials from the project. It has been a slow process due to limitations and changes in the room. Some of the materials will be for Spring, whereas other materials are embedded as we go along. \r\n\r\nWhen the students saw what we had received, they were thrilled. One student got to work straight away, building the Lego Astronaut. It was geared toward him and his engineering skills. This project helps not only my classroom but our whole math department. So my thank you is from all of our teachers! The flashcards will be used for \"elementary math games\". The kids really enjoy testing their speed on basic math facts. They asked if we could have a basic math game in advisory! The rulers will be used by our Algebra II students for graphing. Large rulers often break in backpacks and aren't needed for what we do so these will last much longer! The buzzers will be used by all of us for math games and the paper will be used in geometry to make some of our notes/activites more colorful and eye catching rather than just regular white paper.\r\n\r\nHaving these resources allows us to meet the needs of our students and be creative. It also saves us time not having to find ways to improvise with what we have. When I found out I was going to be a few calculators short this year due to the rise in the price of the calculators I wasn't sure what I was going to do. I didn't want to give all but two students updated calculators to use for the year. Your donation means that all of my students have access to the same technology. It levels the playing field and lets us focus on the math.\r\n\r\nMy students historically do very well in dual credit calculus. Those who take the AP test also do well. Most of my students could not afford this technology if it was not provided. Many also use this calculator in their physics and chemistry classes as well as on the SAT. So your donation is helping students succeed in more than just my classes. I am grateful that I can continue to provide my students the resources they need to be successful. The tablet presenter you have helped me purchase will be used daily in my classroom. It is nice to have a piece of equipment that is not held together by duct tape! \r\n\r\nI use this device to help present in my classroom. I use it regularly to go over notes with my students. It allows me to project onto the screen while still facing the kids. I also use it to hold my iPad so I can annotate, and put objects under the screen so we can all discuss them together. \r\n\r\nMy old device was so broken I had to put papers and objects under the projector at an angle so that they would appear straight on the screen. I appreciate each of you that gave.\r\n\r\nWhile I will not use these calculators regularly until next year, when they arrived a few days ago a couple of students that will be in my calculus II class asked if there was any chance they could get one of the new calculators next year since theirs were struggling to stay charged. When I told them yes, that was the goal, they were so excited! They were playing around on them this morning and were impressed by how fast they graphed. They also loved that I had a charging station so that it would be easier to charge their calculators during the school day. I love that these small improvements have them excited about next year! Only in calculus do students get excited about calculators!\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you. I can't say it enough. Each time I saw someone had donated, I was amazed.
