I am so excited about this project and this school year. I will be teaching my amazing students about the world of finance in our Financial Algebra class and teaching function models in Algebra 2. In Financial Algebra, they will need to be able to calculate interest, bills, student loans, car payments, etc. They will be doing a semester-long project where they are going to have jobs, buy/rent houses, buy cars, have student loans, and budget for groceries. My students will have to calculate all of their payments and bills for this project so they can get a feel of what real life is like. I want them to be able to be as successful as possible in class so that they are successful in life. In my Algebra 2 class, we will be going over functions and the graphing calculators help my students to visualize how the graphs of the functions and makes it to where we can connect real-life situations to a picture of a graph. These calculators also help my students with disabilities and allow them to be able to create graphs that they may not otherwise be able to draw by hand due to their disability.
