I am beginning my career as a 2nd grade teacher and need books to create a classroom library! I have picked out many wonderful books to create a classroom library for my special 2nd grade students to read and learn. Included in my selection I have included picture books and chapter books for a variety of reading levels. This will ensure that every student has a chance to be successful in learning to read. These books will be used to support science, math, reading, social studies and literacy development in the classroom. Students will have time each day to read books from the classroom library to enhance their reading fluency, comprehension and literacy development. Books will also be used by me to read aloud to the students each day to create a warm classroom community. My hope is that by surrounding children with a wide variety of books at a young age it will inspire their imaginations and ignite a desire of reading that will carry on throughout their lives.
