My students need snacks to take home on the weekends and after school. The students often go without as they live in a high poverty area, and a supply of snacks ensures that no child is hungry. When children's tummies are full, they can do their best at school. I will allow students to take snacks home on a Friday afternoon. Many children enjoy eating snacks on their way home from school, especially as there isn't a guarantee that there will be snacks at home. In addition to letting the children take snacks home after school, snacks are helpful when a child arrives to class late and misses the free breakfast provided at school. Often, students' main source of food comes from school, so having extra snacks gives students the security of knowing there are extra snacks to keep them nourished.
