Students come in with all sorts of barriers that make learning harder. From IEPs and 504s to sleep deprivation, there are lots of reasons why students struggle. A lack of materials shouldn't be one of them. Calculators are necessary for calculations on handouts, quizzes and tests. I have 6 to lend out but on test day, there aren't enough and I borrow from other teachers or ask students to share but that isn't a longterm solution. Students shouldn't have to wait to solve problems or get questions wrong because there wasn't a calculator around. I don't want to be prohibited from asking more challenging questions because of this either. I want students not to have to worry about this one anymore. Please help me ensure all students who come into my Chemistry or Physics classroom has access to a calculator.
