We got some additional beginner rackets for the new players we expect to get over the next year or two. We also got some foam balls and a new portable net, which will enable us to get the most out of our offseason conditioning/open gym program. Most of our players don't have access to private lessons or tennis clubs, but we have learned to be creative in using gym and hallway spaces at our school to keep the kids playing in the winter. You would be surprised how many tennis skills you can work on in the hallway! Our old foam balls were worn out, and one of our two portable nets broke, so the resources from this project will be a big help when winter comes around.\r\n\r\nI am looking forward to seeing how our hard-working and highly motivated team continues to improve with the help of the resources we've been able to get through Donors Choose. Our varsity team set a school record for wins, and we had our best-ever results at the city tournament and our best result in four years at sectionals. It was also the most close-knit team we ever had. It's not easy to create a cohesive team with so many players and such a wide range of skill levels, but we are lucky to have a tremendous group of seniors to lead the way. Their commitment to both school and tennis set a great example, and they did so much to make our newer players feel welcome. \r\n\r\nWe could not have done this without your support! We had 29 girls playing tennis this fall, and the school budget is tighter than ever. The orange balls and cones were an invaluable resource for our 12 beginner players, especially in the early stages of the season. Those players developed some strong foundational skills, which helped us have our most successful JV season ever! The other supplies from this project were useful too: The replacement grips and overgrips were essential, as these items tend to wear out during the year. Your donations also helped us get new score tubes and replenish our supply of match balls for this year. \r\n\r\nWe're excited about the boys season as well — we have several key varsity contributors returning from last year, as well as some JV players from last year who we believe will make an impact on the varsity level. Your donations will help ensure they have what they need to make the most of their season.\r\n\r\nMost of our student-athletes don't have access to private lessons or tennis clubs, but they make the most of what they do have. Through their hard work, as well as the resources you have helped us acquire, our team keeps getting better and more competitive. These kids are learning a sport that they can enjoy for the rest of their lives, and their passion and commitment to our program continues to grow. I am excited to see where we go next!","fullyFundedDate":1752506112762,"projectUrl":"project/support-high-school-tennis-on-chicagos/9441726/","projectTitle":"Support High School Tennis on Chicago's South Side (2025)","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Gordon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9407594_orig.png?crop=576,576,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1702855788335","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9407594"},{"teacherId":9491358,"projectId":9173550,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support and for helping bring new energy and resources into my English II and AP Literature & Composition classrooms. Your donation has made a tangible difference in the daily learning experiences of my students, and I wanted to take a moment to share the joy and progress you've made possible.\r\n\r\nThe moment our students saw the cart stocked with highlighters, pens, sticky notes, and other materials, their faces lit up. Several students immediately began exploring the supplies. For many, having consistent access to basic tools like highlighters or a reliable place to charge their devices makes all the difference in their ability to engage meaningfully with classwork. \r\n\r\nI've already begun integrating these materials into our daily routines. In English II, students recently began a character analysis project tied to our unit on \"The Great Gatsby.\" They used the highlighters to track key moments in the text, sticky notes to jot down quick reflections and inferences, and the mobile cart to access support during small-group discussions and one-on-one conferences. The rolling cart has made it much easier for me to provide targeted intervention to students right at their desks, without disrupting the class flow.\r\n\r\nIn AP Literature, my students are currently diving into poetry analysis. The new materials have helped them annotate more deeply and stay organized with their interpretations. The charging ports have been especially helpful during timed writing sessions when students are using their devices to draft essays and submit them online.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has created a classroom environment that is more inclusive, accessible, and engaging for every student. From all of us, thank you for investing in their learning journey. You've made a lasting impact, and we're so grateful to have you as part of our classroom community.","fullyFundedDate":1742950952429,"projectUrl":"project/english-class-wishlist/9173550/","projectTitle":"English Class Wishlist","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Campione","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9491358_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1710284705069","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9491358"},{"teacherId":9392444,"projectId":8853044,"letterContent":"So far 3 students have read some of the books.
