I work for Posen-Robbins School District 143 ½ where most students come from low-income families. During these difficult times, we face no other option than to move education online. Our students are struggling to find resources that will provide their online education. In our First Grade Dual Language Program, we have about ten students without a proper device. In many instances, these students are using their parents’ cell phones to be able to access the IXL Math and ELA platform to practice their skills. Some households have multiple children sharing one device. Our teachers are using Google Classroom in order to reach more students and create lessons that would engage them in learning and practicing their skills. Unfortunately, it is turning out to be very difficult for students and parents to access and navigate through these resources, especially if they are only using a cellphone. Although our school district is making efforts to provide students with devices, I want to help in any way that I can do to ensure every student is able to obtain a proper device. Thank you!
