The headphones that I am requesting will be used daily at our listening center during my literacy block and during math for an adaptive online math program. My students rotate through centers during readers workshop. The listening center is one of their favorite activity. Listening to books allow many of my students who are not reading at grade level an opportunity to access rich content above their reading level. It also lets them listen to vocabulary they might not encounter or are able to tackle when reading a book. Listening to a book allows a model for fluent reading especially for my English Language Learners. There's no greater feeling than watching my students get excited about books. My students take great pleasure in listening to stories. When students are able to choose the books that they listen to, they'll also be more likely to remain engaged and on task. Unfortunately, our headphones that we currently have are at the end of their shelf life and need to be replace.
