Distance learning is a new concept for everyone, and it can be socially isolating for many students. Last year, I wrote a personalized note for every student on my caseload, and it was a huge connection boost for my students. I want students to get that same sense of community from the safety of their own homes. During the coronavirus pandemic, I want to make sure students and their families have masks for when they do have to venture out for essential services. The cost of a mask should not equate to the cost of a life. Wearing a mask is an essential piece of the puzzle that is proven to save lives, but not everyone can afford them. If everyone can wear a mask, we can help stop the spread of coronavirus. I have also included a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to use for lessons during distance learning. I would like to support educators who have put in hard work creating lessons rather than spend extra time re-creating the wheel.
