Materials will be used for STEM integration (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). As students are given challenges and tasks the items purchased will allow them the opportunity to be creative in what material will best be used and think outside the box for how they use it. Through reading students will be able to add the Story Tales set into challenges to connect reading into design. Students will have the opportunity to build and design with the materials and then create technology based projects to showcase and enhance their learning. The WeDo 2.0 will allow students to build and program on the iPad and work through the step by step process of design, trial, and error. By having a variety of STEM choices students will be able to problem solve and then test if their ideas work or if they need to adjust to something new! We use iPads daily in my class so as students are using these materials for STEM they may take pictures and label, record videos, and talk through their thought process and solution to enable them to take ownership and excitement. A huge benefit in STEM is the excitement it can bring to students no matter what other academics they struggle in STEM allows them to shine!
