The closure of schools has caused my students (who have moderate to severe disabilities) to have to attend instruction remotely. This new way of learning has resulted in my students to lose their ability to actively participate during their music appreciation and physical education distance learning sessions. A reason for this is owed to the student’s lack of access to already limited instruments and sporting equipment that was available to the students to utilize when they were attending school in-person/on campus. My students must participate in activities that are not only desirable and cause physical engagement, but that also provide the students with a way to regain some form of normalcy and is beneficial to their quality of life. We are a Title I school, and all of my students qualify for the free lunch program. Therefore, I am asking for support by putting together a box of instruments and sporting equipment to keep the students actively engaged during P.E. and Music Appreciation instructional time.
