Middle School students misplace their belongings as easily and frequently as they giggle, roll their eyes, and bump into the person in front of them. I want to make reuniting lost items with their owners easier, efficient, and respectful. Currently, our Lost and Found items are dumped into a jumbo-sized trash bin. Aside from the tacit message being sent to them that their things are "trash", students have to be tall and brave to dig through this bin when they are looking for their lost items as it is often used as a trash can. A sleek and organized Lost and Found storage structure is a respectful alternative to the garbage bin our school currently uses. We can hang up the coats and hoodies and put lunch boxes and books on the shelves so that students can see and retrieve their lost belongings easily.
